Since Google’s first waves of “lions, tigers and bears “ updates, many online marketers have stressed the importance “building your list”. Why is this so important? Well, for starters, Google is constantly on the lookout for high quality content or lack thereof. Should your website bear the latter, you could find yourself on the verge of losing everything!
During a 2011 update, several long standing internet businesses were hit the hardest. Even publicly traded brands with authority suffered losses. Some restructured and continued to do business. Yet, many were not so fortunate. The commonality among the survivors was each had it’s own customer database (or list). Those that maintained a strong database were able to get back up and running quickly. As a result, those that didn’t, never gained ground. Google’s message was loud and clear: offer more value and less smoke and mirrors to our customers.
In today’s video, I share with you How To Build An Email List Quickly Using Social Media:
How To Build An Email List Quickly Using Social Media
It’s imperative that you build your email list quickly for two reasons. First, the money is in your list. Google’s algorithm updates change every year! Secondly, direct sales and affiliate marketing companies come and go. You could potentially go out of business. You certainly can not put all your faith into either of them. At the the end of the day, you only own two things: your list and your blog!
If you don’t have a list, don’t panic. By using the 10 ways listed below, you’ll be on your way to securing a profitable home business:
#1. Know who you want to target – Some of the questions that you should ask yourself beforehand should be:
- What kind of people do you want on your email list?
- What problems are you solving and/or what desire of theirs are you helping them fulfill?
Once you are able to answer those questions, create a persona around them and start targeting your audience!
#2. Create a high converting offer by:
- Giving it away for free
- Making sure it’s full of value
- Creating it super specific to your audience or niche.
- Note: If this doesn’t appeal to your audience you’re not putting yourself in front of the right people!
#3. Make it easy for people to sign up – Nothing chases leads away faster than a complicated opt-in page or having a bunch of pop-ups. Additionally, never ask for more than two pieces of information during the opt-in process.
#4. Appear on podcasts – Appear on podcasts relevant in your industry. This give you exposure and also offers another opportunity to plug your offers!
#5. Do webinars – Create a webinar on a topic popular to your audience. Create an amazing presentation. Promote your webinar on social media and/or Facebook ads. Give tons of value so you can start generating a buzz to help you get even more subscribers!
6. Go old school – Attend off-line networking event, trade shows or Meetup groups. Remember this is NOT a selling opportunity. You’re there to seek out potential clients to build your list! Build FIRST sell LATER.
#7. Encourage people to share your content
#8. Tweet at your audience and brand influencers
#9. Blogging – Choose content that’s relevant to your audience and offer a highly converting offer at the end of your each posts.
#10. Run Facebook Ads – Facebook ads are super cheap and will get you noticed very quickly. Write a blog post or video with value, add a congruent offer and boost it with ads. Therefore the ads will enable you to reach people farther than you could ever do on your own!
